ABOUT

Hi! I'm Charlotte, a textile artist based in Sheffield.

I started playing with Macrame techniques back in 2017 and instantly fell in love with how therapeutic it was to create with just my hands and a spool of rope. A couple of years later, CharKnots was born. I quickly learnt the diversity of the technique and began making bags, baskets, dog accessories and much more!

CharKnots is a sustainable macrame brand, inspired by a love of colour and creating high quality, eco conscious homeware and accessories. I am hugely passionate about sustainability and so creating an eco conscious brand was of the utmost importance. You'll find a little more about the materials I use below.

After honing my skills over the past few years, I started teaching macrame workshops in 2021, sharing the magic of macrame with others.

Materials

Products are made from 100% recycled cotton which has been saved from landfill. It is also Oeko-Tek® Standard 100 certified meaning the rope contain no harmful chemicals.

Not only is the rope made from recycled cotton, no dyes are used in the production of the rope. Textiles are cut into smaller pieces and shredded to create a dust. The cotton dust is then mixed to create the desired shade and spun into thread which later becomes the rope I use in all of my cotton pieces.

The wooden dowels used in my work are sustainably sourced and PEFC certified.
